In keeping with the time-honored tradition of « public houses » or « pubs » which originated in England and Wales, and then spread all across the U.K., we wanted to give our quaint little establishment a name which related to its location, its owners, and its history. When Charlie found out that Hudson had adopted the Kingfisher as its official bird in May of 2024, he immediately fell in love with the name for the Pub. He submitted it to the rest of the ownership team and then enthusiasm was unanimous. Like us, this bird is tireless, patient yet swift, cool yet industrious, and most importantly, a resilient and determined creature. Like the building which houses our pub, the bird was almost extinct, but it is now coming back to life and its numbers are growing. We thought that was also an apt analogy!
